I am writing this for all the American men who have seen the Internet marriage agencies displaying young beautiful, Russian women in sexy poses who supposedly are ready, willing and able to find an American husband. Well let this be your wake up call guys. Get a grip and stop allowing your fantasies to rule your head.

First, let's get something straight. Russian women are no more beautiful and are no better wives than American women or French women or Nigerian women or Brazilian women! And yes guys, it doesn't matter what part of planet earth women occupy, a woman is a woman.

In my opinion, a good marriage is based on friendship, respect, love, communication, compromise and sharing between two individuals. In my relationship and marriage with my Russian wife, communication was essential. I also believe that our maturity (we both were over 40) and our true feelings for each other has kept us together for over five years.

In other words, I would like you to know that foreign women are identical to American women, in terms of their wants, needs and expectations, they just weren't born here.

When your foreign fiancee arrives in America there will be an adjustment period. Immigrants bring family memories, national pride, eating and music preferences, ethnic prejudices, and of course a little to a lot of baggage.

On the economic front, you should be prepared to support your new bride until she is able to find a good job that she is happy with. Support may include long distance phone bills to friends and family.

You may find it necessary to incur additional educational costs should a change of careers become necessary. Be prepared to help her grasp a better understanding of the English language. Picture yourself in Moscow, speaking Russian while applying for a job.
